Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui presentase dan tingkat Scientific Reasoning Ability (SRA) siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal uraian materi gerak benda serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi SRA siswa. Desain penelitian menggunakan mix design. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan nonprobability sampling jenis purposive sampling dengan sampel kelas VIII A sebanyak 31 siswa di SMPN 9 Gresik. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tes soal uraian yang disesuaikan dengan indikator SRA dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tipe jawaban SRA siswa pada indikator Correlational Reasoning adalah Intutive 32,25%, No Relationship 12,9%, dan One Cell 54,8%. Dari hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa SRA siswa tergolong dalam level rendah. Faktor yang mempengaruhi SRA siswa rendah adalah metode pembelajaran yang digunakan guru, siswa belum memahami konsep, dan kurang memanfaatkan waktu dalam mengerjakan soal uraian.

The aims of the research were to know the percentage and level of Scientific Reasoning Ability (SRA) students in solving essay question of material motion objects and the factors that influence. The research design uses a mix design. The sampling technique in this study used nonprobability sampling type purposive sampling with samples class VIII A as many as 31 students at SMPN 9 Gresik. Data collection using 3 essay question test adjusted for the SRA indicators and interviews. The results showed that the type question SRA of students in Correlational Reasoning indicator is Intutive 32,25%, No Relationship 12,9%, and One Cell 54,8%. From research result, can be concluded that the SRA of students is classified at the low level. The influencing factor of SRA student low is the learning method used by the teacher, students do not yet understand the concept, and do not utilize the time in working essay.
