In the world of literature, there is a term known as transformation which refers to the change of ideas in a particular time and place. One of the transformation process is adaptation. Adaptation itself defines as the transformation of an art's work into another form or media, for instance, the adaptation from novel into film. In the adaptation process, there are some changes such as deleting and adding parts from adapted work to the adaptation work. Many successful films are adapted from a literary work, thus it can be interpreted that adaptation has a big role in literature itself. Related to the phenomenon above, this study aims to analyze the adaptation process from novel into film. This study is qualitative because of the data collected in the form of words, which the data of this study is taken from all of the character’s dialogues, utterances, and also the author's narration from the sources of data. The third, watching the film in order to find the character's dialogues, utterance, words, and also the author's narration which represents a problem related to the sources of data. The last, classifying the sources of data to the basis of the problems. Whereas, the technique of analyzing data conducted by three processes namely: data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The theory used is adaptation theory from Linda Hutcheon which focuses on the different modes of engagement and political motives.
