Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi siswa pada konsep cahaya. Penelitian dilakukan di SMP Negeri 1 Ngadiluwih, Kediri pada siswa kelas VIII. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode gabungan (kualitatif dan kuantitatif). Pengambilan sampel dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan jumlah sampel 75 siswa. Miskonsepsi diidentifikasi menggunakan tes diagnostik. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah four tier test. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh siswa yang mengalami miskonsepsi pada konsep cahaya denganrata-rata sebesar 38%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penyebab miskonsepsi pada siswa berasal dari prakonsepsi (konsep awal) dan minat belajar.

This aim of the research were to identify students misconceptions on the concept of light. The research was conducted in SMPN 1 Ngadiluwih on an eight-grade students. The research used a mix method. Sampling used purposive sampling technique with 75 sample of students Misconceptions will be identified using diagnostic test. The research instrument used a four tier test. Based on the result of research obtained students who have misconceptions on the concept of light with an average 38%. The result ofthis research showed that the cause of students misconceptions came from student preconceptions and interest in learning.
