This study focuses on the categorizations and the functions of taboo words used by Nicky Minaj in her song lyrics. It aims to explain the categorizations of taboo words and the functions of taboo words in Nicky Minaj’s song lyrics. The writer used content analysis to collect the data which is the theory from Kothari (2004). The research employed qualitative method in which it is in line with the theory of Miles and Huberman (1994). The data of this study were collected from Nicky Minaj’s song lyrics that were published in 2018. For analyzing the data, the writer applied interactive data analysis by Miles and Huberman (1994) as the method of data analysis. This result of this study shows that there are 7 categorizations from 8 categorizations of taboo words in Nicky Minaj song lyrics that contain taboo words. Those are sex (8data), death (2data), excretion (3data), bodily functions (2data), religious matters (2 data), mother-in-law (2data) and game animals (1data). Meanwhile there are 2 functions are found from 4 functions of taboo words in Nicky Minaj song lyrics. Precisely, there are 11data include to draw attention to oneself functions and 9 data include to show contempt functions.
