This study entitled “A Study of Address Terms Used by Characters in Transformers 1 Movie. The aim of this study is to describe types of address term and the social factors that affect the characters of using address term in Transformers 1movie. The source of data was Transformers 1 movie produced by Michael Bay. The study was using theory proposed by Ronald Wardhaugh (2006). The method of this study is qualitative method. First, the writer looked for Transformers 1 Movie from internet. After that, the writer watched Transformers 1 Movie to get the data and to understand whole of plot the movie. Secondly, the writer looked for script of Transformers 1 Movie in internet. Third, the writer read the script of the movie to find utterances that contain address term used by characters. Fourth, the conversations that contain address term were marked. The last, the writer created note to identify the data that contain address term. Then, the result shows that there are five types of address term, they are address term using name (N) with 8 frequencies, address term using kinship name (KN) with 5 frequencies, address term using pet name (PN) with 3 frequencies, address term using title alone (T) with 2 frequencies and address term using title plus last name (TLN) with 2 frequencies. Furthermore, this study finds five social factors that affect characters of using address term in Transformers 1 Movie. The social factors are: social status (ST) with 5 frequencies, family relationship (FR) with 5 frequencies, age (A) with 5 frequencies, the degree of intimacy (DI) with 3 frequencies and gender (G) with 2 frequencies.
