In addition, the syntactical contexts of word affixes in the sentence using the theory of Greenbaum and Nelson (2002). This analysis uses qualitative design as the research design. Moreover, content analysis is applied to obtain the data which the writer becomes the key instrument of the study. Interactive model analysis, then, is conducted to analyse and explain the data. The data of the study are words, phrases, sentences. The source of data is transcript of Obama’s Farewell speech. The analysis shows the findings of the affixes systems and its syntactical contexts in the sentence. There are two major finding of affixes systems, they are systems of inflectional affixes and systems of derivational affixes. There are 91 data which are comprised as the application of affixes systems. 64 data belong to systems of inflectional affixes such as number systems (10 data), person systems (11 data), gender & noun class systems (10 data), case systems (5 data), tense & aspect systems (11 data), voice systems (10 data), and mood & modality systems (7 data). Moreover, 27 data belong to systems of derivational affixes such as class-changing systems (16) and class-maintaining system (11).
