Program Studi Sastra Inggris Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Budaya, Universitas Trunojoyo Madura. Pembimbing: Prof. Dr. Suryo Tri Saksono M.Pd Penelitian ini membahas analisis pada Mitch Albom Time Keeper. Ini membahas dua masalah penelitian. Yaitu: 1) Pengaruh cinta erotis dalam Sarah Lemon dalam The Time Keeper karya Mitch Albom, 2) Betapa kasih sayang seorang ibu mengurangi efek buruk cinta erotis pada Sarah Lemon dalam The Time Keeper karya Mitch Albom. Untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian ini, psikologi cinta digunakan sebagai teori dasar. Untuk menguraikan teori spesifik, psikologi cinta oleh Eric Fromm digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Selanjutnya, cinta erotis dan teori keibuan Eric Fromm digunakan untuk mendukung analisis. Untuk menganalisis efek cinta erotis dan cinta keibuan yang terjadi dalam novel, narasi dan ucapan karakter digunakan sebagai data penelitian ini. Dengan demikian, untuk menyelesaikan penelitian ini, metode kualitatif digunakan untuk menganalisis data yang diperoleh dari novel karya Mitch Albom Time Keeper. Berdasarkan analisis, ditemukan bahwa: 1) dalam novel Time Keeper karya Eric Fromm, cinta erotis memengaruhi kehidupan Sarah Lemon. Cinta erotis memiliki beberapa efek yaitu efek buruk dan baik yang memengaruhi pola pikir dan sikap Sarah, 2) sudut pandang keibuan dapat mengurangi efek buruk cinta erotis. Advisor: Prof. Dr. Suryo Tri Saksono M.Pd This study concerns in the analysis on Mitch Albom’sthe Time Keeper. It discusses two research issues. Those are: 1) The influences of erotic love in Sarah Lemon in Mitch Albom’sThe Time Keeper, 2) How motherly love reducing the bad effects of erotic love on Sarah Lemon in Mitch Albom’sThe Time Keeper. To achieve the objective of this study, psychology of love was used as the fundamental theory. To elaborate the specific theory, psychology of love by Eric Fromm was used in this study. Furthermore, erotic love and motherly love theory of Eric Fromm were used for supporting the analysis. To analyse the effects of erotic love and motherly love which occur in the novel, the author’s narrations and characters’ utterances were used as the data of this study. Thus, to accomplish this study, the qualitative method was used to analyse the data which were obtained from the novel by Mitch Albom’sthe Time Keeper. Based on the analysis, it was found that: 1) in novel the Time Keeper by Eric Fromm, erotic love influences Sarah Lemon’s life. Erotic love has some effects those are bad and good effects which influenced Sarah’s mindset and attitude, 2) motherly love point of views could reduce the bad effects of erotic love.
