ABSTRACT This study focused on the analysis of the character’s utterances and author’s narration portraying a main character, as a woman who struggles to get social justice. Therefore here are two problems that should be answered in this thesis, (1) what are the kinds of woman’s struggle in the novel Plain Truth. (2) How does the main character struggle to get social justice in the novel Plain Truth. Feminism, especially Wollstonecraft’s vindication is used as the basis theory to analyze women who cannot make relationship with men and cannot get social justice. This study includes in qualitative research the method because the characteristics and the features uses qualitative methodology such as, the data are the author narrations and the character’s utterances rather than the number form, and the researcher is the key instrument. The author’s narration and the character’s utterances describe a brave and strong woman which relates to Wollstonecraft’s vindication. In this study, the writer found two the results of the study. The first one is kinds of woman’s struggle. Those are the struggle of telling the truth, the struggle to reach justice, the struggle of hidden the cases. Meanwhile, in relation to the second research question, the study shows that the main character struggle to get social justice. Besides that, the main character a woman’s strong until she can cope the problem and she can approve. Keywords: Struggle, Feminism and Vindication.
