    Abstraction

    Supernatural Elements In Neil Gaiman's Coraline. The main purpose of this study is to figure out, to describe and to explain some supernatural elements depicted in Neil Gaiman’s Coraline. This study describes supernatural elements found in Neil Gaiman’s Coraline. Supernatural-element term is a theory that concerns on unusual and extraordinary element. It contains magic and supernatural element which exist in the real world. It cannot be explained by any rational sciences. The data of this study are collected by using descriptive qualitative research design proposed by Bogdan and Biklen (1982) in describing and explaining the supernatural elements. The writer is the key instrument in conducting this study. To analyze and to explain the data, the writer uses magical realism theory proposed by Maggie Ann Bowers (2004) particularly in supernatural elements. However, the results of this study indicate that supernatural elements exists in two dimensional worlds; namely the real world and the unreal world. Through this analysis, the writer exhibits the result that the braveries of the little girl in Coraline in completing her adventure in world which full of challenges and risks. Of course, Coraline exemplifies an important thing in society. She is the portrayal that children must be brave and be careful for every children's wishes for their parent.
