  • An Analysis of Hypotaxis in Jakarta Post Newspaper

    Abstraksi

    The study aims at explaining types and properties of hypotaxis found in Jakarta Post Newspaper. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative research design. The source of data is one edition of Jakarta Post Newspaper, published on December 2018, 3rd edition. The research instrument of the study was the writer herself. The writer found three types of hypotaxis namely Nominal Group, Verbal Group and Adverbial Group and three properties of hypotaxis. There are 12 data which belong to the types of Nominal Group, 26 data which belong to Verbal Group and 11 data which belong to Adverbial Group. The writer also found three properties of hypotaxis. There are 7 data which belong to the unequal status; dominant and dependent clause, 14 data which belong to the report dependent on verbal/ mental clause, and 38 data which belong to the expanded and expanding clause.
