ABSTRAK Penelitian ini berjudul Konflik Sosial Tokoh Utama dalam Novel Laut Bercerit Karya Leila S. Chudori. Laut Bercerit adalah suara-suara keluarga korban 1998 sebagai sebuah memori kolektif dan traumatis sepanjang sejarah Indonesia. Melalui analisis latar sosial politik untuk mengetahui setting sosial terjadinya konflik dan analisis terhadap bentuk-bentuk konflik sosial dalam novel, terungkap berbagai dinamika kondisi politik di pergantian era Orde Baru ke era Reformasi dan setelahnnya. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan menggunakan analisis isi. Objek kajian dalam novel ini adalah konflik sosial tokoh utama.Data yang dibutuhkan dalam penelitian ini berupa paragraf dalam novel Laut Bercerita. Sumber data primer diperoleh dari novel Laut Bercerit. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan menggunakan teknik pustaka, simak, dan catat. Dari hasil sebuah penelitian ini ditemukan konflik sosial dalam novel Laut Bercerit karya Leila S. Chudori terungkap melalui identifikasi menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi sastra Lewis A. Coser. Identifikasi latar sosial politik dilakukan terlebih dahulu untuk mengetahui setting sosial dalam novel Laut Bercerit yang berpengaruh terhadap terbentuknya konflik. Setelahnya dilakukan identifikasi terhadap penokohan dalam cerita, karena novel ini membedakan dua latar terbentuknya cerita berdasarkan tokoh cerita. Dalam hal ini tokoh utama adalah representasi dari setting sosial diceritakannya novel Laut Bercerit yang mencakup setting sosial Orde Baru dalam bagian cerita “Biru Lau” dan setting sosial reformasi dalam bagian cerita “Asmara Jati”. Dan berdasarkan analisis tersebut ditemukan juga bentuk atau wujud dari konflik sosial yang terdapat di dalam novel, yaitu konflik in-group, konflik out-group, konflik realistis, dan konflik non-realistis. ABSTRACT This study is entitled Social Conflicts of Main Characters in the Novel Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori. Laut Bercerita is the voices of the families of victims of 1998 as a collective and traumatic memory throughout Indonesian history. Through an analysis of social and political background to find out the social setting of conflicts and analysis of the forms of social conflict in the novel, various dynamics of political conditions were revealed in the change of the New Order era to the Reformation era and afterwards. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach using content analysis. The object of study in this novel is the social conflict of the main character. The data needed in this study is in the form of paragraphs in the novel Bercerita Laut. The primary data source was obtained from the novel Bercerit. Data collection techniques used are using library, refer to, and record techniques. From the results of this study found social conflict in the novel Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori was revealed through identification using the literary sociology approach Lewis A. Coser. Identification of the socio-political background is done first to find out the social setting in the Laut Bercerita novel that influences the formation of conflict. After that, identification of characterizations in the story is carried out, because this novel distinguishes two settings of the story based on the characters. In this case the main character is a representation of the social setting of the telling of the Laut Bercerita novel which includes the social settings of the New Order in the "Biru Laut" story section and the social setting reform in the "Asmara Jati" story section. And based on this analysis also found the forms or forms of social conflict contained in the novel, namely in-group conflict, out-group conflict, realistic conflict, and non-realistic conflict.
