Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menjelaskan konstruksi realitas sosial kontrasepsi vasektomi bagi laki-laki ber-KB vasektomi. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan tradisi fenomenologi. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah 12 orang laki-laki bervasektomi di Kabupaten Tuban. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keputusan laki-laki bervasektomi didasari dua motif utama, yaitu motif masa lalu (because motive) yang didorong alasan jumlah anak, biaya hidup dan sekolah mahal, usia sudah tua, meniru teman, istri tidak cocok KB, istri pernah gagal KB, dan istri tidak mau KB, serta motif masa depan (in order motive) yang didasarkan pada alasan agar istri terkena penyakit kandungan, agar tidak sakit punggung, jaga-jaga istri lupa ber-KB, dan mengurangi resiko ketika berbuat negatif. Kontrasepsi vasektomi dikonstruksikan oleh laki-laki yang berkontrasepsi vasektomi sebagai suatu realitas sosial yang positif dan negatif. Perbedaan pemaknaan tentang kontrasepsi vasektomi berkaitan dengan pengalaman-pengalaman subjektif akseptor vasektomi. Kata kunci: Vasektomi, Motif, Konstruksi Realitas Sosial

Abstract This study is to find and demonstrate the construction of social reality on vasectomy contraception for man who used vasectomy contraseption. This study uses qualitative phenomenology tradition method. The source of data of this study is twelve men applying vasectomy in Tuban. The result of this study shows that men’s decision to deal with vasectomy is motivated by two major of motive. The first motive is historical background motive (because motive) which is caused by amount of children they have, live needs, the costly of school of their children, being in ages, being stereotyped, inappropriate use of contraseption for his wife, having contraseption accidents of his wife and unwillingness of his wife to deal with contraseption. The second motive is future expectation motive (in order motive) which is cause by the men’s intention for his wife not to have obstetrical disease, restraining from back pain, remaining his wife of forgetting to the scheduled contraseption and detracting risk in a negative conduct. The vasektomy contraseption is constructed by man’s use vasectomy contraseption as positive and negative. The different meaning in construction of vasectomy is dealing with subjective experience of vasectomy acceptors. Key word: Vasectomy, Motive, Social reality construction
