Advisor: Imron Wakhid H., S.S., M.Pd., Ph.D Ryzek Noavek Domination in Veronica Roth’s Carve the Mark Veronica Roth’s Carve the Mark is a novel which shows the domination of the ruler from Shotet Ryzek Noavek over people surround him especially to his sister Cyra Noavek and his servant Akos Kereseth. Ryzek Noavek dominates to other people through three ways, intellectuality, cultural and violence. Therefore, according to the data, this study have two statements of research problems are set in this study. They are: how does Ryzek Noavek dominate other people in Veronica Roth’s Carve the Mark and what are the effects of Ryzek Noavek domination to people around him. Then, this study focuses on the character utterances and the author’s narration. This study uses hegemony theory which is formulated by Antonio Gramsci (1971) and Louis Althusser (1969). Thus, the aim of this study is to shows readers about theory of hegemony according to the data in which also referring to the social life. Furthermore, this study uses qualitative research design to analyze the data in the form of words. After analyzing the novel, it can be concluded that there are three kinds of hegemony that depicted to Ryzek Noavek as the ruler of Shotet in the Veronica Roth’s Carve the Mark. Ryzek Noavek’s domination to other people surrounds him using intellectuality, cultural and violence approach. In this study, the domination of Ryzek Noavek has some effects that appear in this novel. The effects are assassination and overthrow the ruler of Shotet by renegades.
