Alienation is a condition resulted from social process. A different social process in society will result various modifications towards the form of alienation. According to Melvin Seeman, alienation refers to socio-psychological point of view. He divided the alienation into six senses. They are powerlessness, meaninglessness, normlessness, isolation, self-estrangement, and cultural estrangement. This study focuses on the representation of alienation in Thirteen Reasons Why Novel by Jay Asher. The purpose of this study was to describe and depict the representation of alienation. This study also included the analysis of how the alienation itself obvious in different ways. The study applied descriptive qualitative research and the theory of alienation by Melvin Seeman. In the data analysis the writer analyzed the alienation which happened to the main character, Hannah Backer in Thirteen Reasons Why Novel by identifying, categorizing and classifying the issue into six senses. The study found out four senses of alienation which were represented by Hannah Backer. They were powerlessness, meaninglessness, isolation, and self-estrangement. The alienation which happened to Hannah Backer affected her social life. It even affected her mental state also. Therefore, it makes her deciding to end her life by commit suicide.
