  • Abstraksi

    This study focuses on the idiom translations found in engineering book “Schaum’s Outline of Theory and Problems of Analog and Digital Communications” or “Schaum Outline Teori dan Permasalahan dari Komunikasi Analog dan Digital”. It aims to explain the types of idiom and its translation and the translation methods which are taken from engineering book by using the theory proposed by Lim (2004), Newmark (1988), and Catford (1986). This study is conducted by using a qualitative research because the data in the form of words. The data of this study are the idioms found on engineering book “Schaum’s Outline of Theory and Problems of Analog and Digital Communications”. In the findings, the writer found 22 data. The data can be classified into three of idioms translation. Those are phrasal verb idiom with 12 data, idiom with preposition with 5 data, and idiom with comparison with 5 data. While the translation method of idiom that are classified into four method, that are literal translation with 10 data, free translation with 7 data, and communicative translation with 4 data.
