This study deals with the translation shift, especially category shift and the equivalence. This is aimed to describe the category shift and the degree of meaning equivalence found in the setting menu of Opera Mini on Samsung Galaxy J5. This study used descriptive qualitative design. In order to achieve the objectives of the research, the writer conducted the research by collecting, classifying, and analyzing the data. The source of the data is Opera mini on Samsung Galaxy J5, while the data are words or phrases in the English – Indonesian setting menu. The result of this study are: (1) there are 27 cases of occurrences of category shift found in the English - Indonesian setting menu of Opera Mini on Samsung Galaxy J5. They are structure shift with 14 cases or about 51.85 %, unit shift with 7 cases or about 25.92 %, intra-system shift with 6 cases or about 22.22 %, and there is no class shift or 0 %. (2) the category shift can affect the degree of equivalence become fully or partially equivalent. There are 26 cases of occurrences of degrees of meaning equivalence found in the English - Indonesian setting menu of Opera Mini. It divided into 4 types: complete meaning with 20 cases or about 76.92 %, increased meaning with 3 cases or about 11.53 %, decreased meaning with 2 cases or about 7.69 %, and different meaning are only 1 case or about 3.84 %, and there is no lost meaning or 0 %.
