  • Hiroko's Discrimination In Silent Honor Novel by Daniele Steel

    Abstraksi

    A discrimination analysis of Hiroko as the major character on silent honor novel by Daniele Steel shows discrimination phenomena because of the differences between her and her new environment. The study aims to describe to discrimination elements of Hiroko personality which appear in the story.This study focused on discrimination phenomena in novel Silent Honor by Daniele Steel used theory’s Smith and Macky (2002). This study used one research problem which is asked about how does the discrimination causes of main character to get some problems. Then this study also used an objective of the study to explain the way discrimination causes to main character. This study employed descriptive qualitative as the design of this study. The source of the data was a novel entitled Silent Honor by Daniele Steel and the data are the character’s and the writer’s description in the novel. In addition, content analysis was applied to obtain the data in which the writer became the key instrument of the study. Interactive data analysis, then, was conducted to analyze and explain the data. The results show on the findings of the types of discrimination. In terms discrimination types, 15 data of Indirect discrimination that found in the novel. Direct discrimination is 17 data that founds in the novel. At last discussion is how the discrimination elements of Hiroko’s personality which describe in the story. Keywords : Discrimination, Silent Honor, novel
