Maghfiroh, N. 140511100069. An Analysis of Speech Delay Found In Three-Year-Old Children. Thesis. English Study Program of The Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences, University of Trunojoyo Madura. Advisor: Misnadin, S.S., M.A., Ph.D. This study concerns of speech delay and used theory which proposed by Hurlock (1978) and (1980). The data were taken from utterances children who experienced speech delay and statement of parents with children with speech delay. Qualitative research is applied to explain the findings and discussions descriptively. The data are all words, phrases or sentences which represent children with speech delay found in three-year-old children. The writer collected the data and analyzed the data by herself. The writer used Creswell (2014) theory for data collection and data analysis.. In this study, in term of characteristics children with speech delay, the writer found 16 data of some characteristics of children with speech delay. Those are: 6 data of “says only certain sounds or words repeatedly”, 5 data of “prefer gestures over vocalization to communicate”, 4 data of “could not form sentences consisting of six to eight words” and 1 data of “has a problem with her nerves”. In term of factors of speech delay, the writer found 20 data of factors that cause those children suffer from speech delay. Those are: 1 data of “discipline”, 2 data of “position sequence”, 2 data of “family size”, 2 data of “social economic status”, 1 data of “bilingual”, 2 data of “classification of the role of sex”, 1 data of “health”, 2 data of “no desire to communicate”, 2 data of “encouragement”, 1 data of “the birth of twins”, 2 data of “no relationship with peers” and 2 data of “personality”. The writer also founds 3 factors caused speech delay. Those are: Gadget and Television, lack of togetherness with family, lack of parental attention to child growth and child language development.
