A STUDY OF SATIRE IN SUKKUR’S PAPARÈGH?NPenulis : Nurul HidayatiDosen Pembimbing I : Iqbal Nurul Azhar, S.S., M.Hum.Dosen Pembimbing II :Abstraksi
The aims of this study are to discuss the types of satire and the linguistic features implemented in constructing satire in Sukkur’s paparègh?n. This analysis was carried out by using qualitative research recommended by Hancock (2007). The data of this analysis were collected from “Lawak Sukkur” videos. The data were collected by conducting a content analysis method proposed by Holsti (1969). To analyse the data, the writer applied the theory of method of analysing data based on Miles and Huberman (1994). Based on the analysis, the writer found that there were 12 collected data which were categorized into 2 types of satire. The most frequently type of satire in the list of data was direct satire with 10 data and indirect satire with 2 data. In addition, it can be seen that the 12 satires have their own features. Most of satires were constructed by sentences. There were 7 data constructed by sentences, 5 data constructed by phrase, and none of data constructed by word. In terms of lexical categories, it seems that Sukkur did not have any favorite lexicons in order to build his satires. He used various lexicons. In terms of meaning, most of Sukkur’s satires contain connotative meaning than dennotative meaning. Keywords: Satire, Types of Satire, Linguistic Features.
