    Abstraction

    My name is Red is a novel by Orhan Pamuk which told about the turkish life at the end of Ottoman Empire that influence by Europe which make this novel appropriate to be analyzed. The novel is analyzed use postmodern theory in order to figure out the social phenomena like crisis of identity and historical aspect which has appeared in the novel. Furthermore, this study uses qualitative research as the research methodology because the data are presented in form of word; the key instrument of the research is the resercher herself; the data are collected from the character utterance and author narration with given different highlighting as the code of the data then be analyzed. The last is the technique of analyzing the data are divided into three steps, first is data reduction, the second is data display and the last is conclussion drawing/ verification. The study gets the result after trying to answer the statement of the problem. There are two statements of problem of the study, the first is Turkish Identity Crisis and the second is Turkish historical aspect. Therefore, the researcher has found 3 types of identity crisis which have been appeared in the novel, that is art crisis; cultural crisis; and moral crisis. The turkish historical aspect that revealed by the researcher are divided into four aspects, the first is cultural history, the second is art history, the third is economical history and the last aspect is political history.
