Salah satu sub sektor pertanian yang potensial untuk dikembangkan di Indonesia adalah sub sektor peternakan. Namun peternakan ayam broiler terancam karena usaha tersebut mempunyai risiko tinggi, terutama risiko harga output (pemasaran) dan harga input yang fluktuatif. Kebijakan pemerintah tentang contract farming dapat menjadi salah satu solusi dalam mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendiskripsikan pola reduksi sumber risiko peternak ayam broiler dengan perusahaan mitra, mengidentifikasi sumber-sumber risiko yang tidak tereduksi dalam kegiatan kemitraan, dan mengetahui tingkat peluang, dampak, serta peta risiko yang tidak dapat tereduksi oleh kemitraan. Metode yang digunakan yaitu analisis deskriptif, diagram fish bone, z-score dan Value at Risk. Hasil dari penelitian yaitu adanya kemitraan antara perusahaan inti dengan peternak plasma dapat mereduksi sumber risiko politis, risiko teknis, dan risiko keuangan. Sumber risiko yang tidak tereduksi dengan adanya kemitraan yaitu risiko logistik, serta sosial dan geografis. Sumber risiko logistik meliputi kualitas DOC (Day Old Chick), kualitas air minum, dan kualitas kandang. Sumber risiko sosial dan geografis terdiri dari perubahan cuaca, penyakit, serangan hama, ayam dan sapronak dicuri, serta kelalaian anak kandang. Risiko logistik memiliki probabilitas dan dampak yang rendah pada peternakan ayam broiler di Kecamatan Baureno. Risiko sosial dan geografis yang bersumber dari perubahan cuaca dan tingkat penyakit memiliki probabilitas yang besar namun berdampak kecil pada usaha ayam broiler di Kecamatan Baureno. Sedangkan yang bersumber dari serangan hama, ayam dan sapronak dicuri, serta kelalaian anak kandang memiliki probabilitas dan dampak risiko kecil. One of the agricultural sub-sector with the potential to be developed in Indonesia is the livestock sub-sector. Social and geographic sources of risk consists of changes in the weather, disease, pests, chicken and sapronak stolen, as well as child negligence cage.
