    Abstraksi

    Biji kelor ( Moringa oleifera L.) tidak memiliki masa dormansi, sehingga dapat tumbuh setelah benih telah mencapai masak fisiologis. Penyimpanan berfungsi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan benih sewaktu dibutuhkan. Penyimpanan benih kelor yang baik dapat mempertahankan viabilitas benih dan mutu benih. Benih yang bermutu akan menghasilkan pertumbuhan vegetatif yang baik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari pengaruh macam wadah dan periode simpan benih terhadap pertumbuhan vegetatif tanaman kelor. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2017-Mei 2018 di ruang inkubasi pada suhu ruang simpan 26?C dan lahan persemaian. Rancangan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) terdiri dari 2 faktor, yaitu macam wadah simpan (kontrol, aluminium foil, plastik polyetilen, kertas, dan kaleng) dan periode simpan (2 bulan, 3 bulan, dan 4 bulan). Data pengamatan dianalisis dengan Analisis Sidik Ragam, kemudian diuji lanjut dengan uji Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan wadah simpan dan periode simpan berpengaruh nyata terhadap variabel kadar air, kecepatan berkecambah, daya berkecambah, bobot kering, potensi tumbuh maksimum, jumlah daun, panjang akar, dan panjang epikotil. Penyimpanan tampa wadah simpan (kontrol) dengan kadar air benih 9% setelah periode simpan 4 bulan dapat mempertahankan viabilitas benih tetap tinggi.

    Abstraction

    Moringa seeds (Moringa oleifera L.) do not have dormancy, so they can be growth after the seeds have reached physiological maturity. Storage functions to meet the needs of seeds when needed. Good storage of Moringa seeds can maintain seed viability and seed quality. Quality seeds that have good viability will produce good vegetative growth of Moringa plants. The purpose of this study was to determined the effect of various storage containers and seed storage periods on the vegetative plants of Moringa seeds. This research was carried out in December 2017-May 2018 in the incubation room at a temperature of 26?C and the nursery area. The research design used in this study is a Completely Randomized Design consisting of 2 factors, namely the type of storage container (control, aluminum foil, polyethylene plastic, paper and cans) and the storage period (2 months, 3 months, and 4 months) . Observation data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance, then further tested by Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the level of 5%. The results showed that the storage container treatment and storage period had a significant effect on the variables of observation of water content, germination speed, germination power , vigor index, dry weight, maximum growth potential, number of leaves, root length, and epicotile length. The result of Storage without storage containers (control) with 9% seed moisture content after a 4-month storage period can maintain seed viability remains high.
