Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMPN 1 Socah pada bulan Mei tahun ajaran 2016/2017 dengan populasi semua kelas VII dan sampel yang diteliti 2 kelas yaitu kelas VII A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII B sebagai kelas kontrol. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian nonequivalent control group design. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tes untuk pemahaman konsep siswa, lembar observasi untuk keterlaksanaan dan aktivitas siswa, angket untuk respon siswa. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji t bebas. Hasil analisis data kedua kelompok diperoleh - thitung < ttabel < thitung (-2,793 < 1,682 < 2,793) pada taraf signifikan 0,05. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan pemahaman konsep siswa antara kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa (1) Penerapan teknik POE (Predict Observe Explain) berpengaruh dalam pembelajaran IPA (2) Penerapan teknik predict observe explain dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa dalam pembelajaran IPA (3) Keterlaksanaan pembelajaran IPA dengan menggunakan teknik pembelajaran Predict Observe Explain diperoleh rata-rata sebesar 94,7% dengan kategori sangat baik (4) Rata-rata aktivitas siswa saat menggunakan teknik pembelajaran Predict Observe Explain diperoleh hasil sebesar 73% dengan kategori baik (5) Rata-rata respon siswa saat menggunakan teknik pembelajaran Predict Observe Explain diperoleh hasil sebesar 81% dengan kategori sangat baik. The purpose of this research is to know the implimentation of predict observe explain technique to improve student comprehension concept. This research was conducted at SMPN 1 Socah in May 2016/2017 with population of all class VII and sample of 2 class which is class VII A as experiment class and class VII B as control class. This research used quasi experimental methods with nonequivalent control group design. The Sampling technique using purposive sampling. The data collection used tests for students' conceptual comprehension, observation sheets for student activities and activities, questionnaires for student responses. The data analysis technique using free t-test. The results of data analysis of both groups were obtained - thitung < ttabel < thitung (-2,793 < 1,682 < 2,793) at significant level 0,05. This suggests that there is a difference in the comprehension of student concepts between the experimental class and the control class. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that (1) The implimentation of POE technique (Predict Observe Explain) has an effect on science learning (2) The implimentation of predict observe explain technique can improve students' comprehension concept in science learning (3) The implementation of science learning by using Predict Observe Explain 94,7% with very good criteria (4) The average of student activity when using Predict Observe Explain learning technique 73% with good criteria (5) The average student response when using Predict Observe Explain learning technique 81% with very good criteria.
