ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana pemecahan masalah matematika siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita ditinjau dari kemampuan siswa dan gender kelas IV SDN Buluh 2. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan dokumentasi dan wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, pada langkah memahami masalah laki-laki kemampuan tinggi membaca soal satu kali sedangkan subjek yang lain membaca soal lebih dari satu kali. Langkah merencanakan strategi penyelesaian, laki-laki kemampuan tinggi, perempuan kemampuan tinggi, laki-laki kemampuan sedang menuliskan rumus dengan lengkap pada setiap nomor soal, sedangkan perempuan kemampuan sedang, perempuan kemampuan rendah serta laki-laki kemampuan rendah tidak menuliskan rumus dengan lengkap pada beberapa soal. Langkah melakukan perhitungan, laki-laki kemampuan tinggi, laki-laki sedang serta perempuan tinggi, perempuan sedang banyak melakukan perhitungan dengan benar. Sedangkan laki-laki kemampuan rendah dan perempuan kemampuan rendah banyak melakukan kesalahan perhitungan. Langkah memeriksa kembali jawaban, laki-laki kemampuan tinggi, perempuan kemampuan tinggi, dan perempuan kemampuan sedang menuliskan kesimpulan pada semua soal dengan kalimat. Laki-laki sedang, perempuan rendah hanya menuliskan satu kesimpulan. Sedangkan Laki-laki rendah tidak menuliskan kesimpulan pada soal. Kata Kunci : Soal cerita, Polya, Kemampuan, Gender
AbstractionABSTRACT The aims of this research to describe how the problem solving of mathematics students in solving the story problems in terms of students' ability and gender from 4th grade of SDN Buluh 2. This study used a qualitative approach with the type of descriptive qualitative research. The data was collected using a documentation and interviews. The result of the research showed that male student having high level of mathematics ability was read the problem once. While the other subject read the problem more than once in step of understanding the problem. The step devising a plan, male student having high level of mathematics ability, female student having high level of mathematics ability, and male student having middle level of matemathics ability were write full formulas on each nomber of the problem. While female student having middle level of mathematics, female student having low level of mathematics ability and male student having low level of mathematics ability were not write the full formulas on some problem. In step carriying out the plan, male student having high and middle level of mathematics ability, female student having high and middle level of mathematics ability doing a lot of calculation correctly. While male student and female student with low level of mathematics ability doing a lot of miscalculation. In step looking back the answer, male student having high level of mathematics ability and female student with high and middle level of mathematics ability, write conclusion all of the problem with sentences. Male student having middle of mathematics ability and female student having low of mathematics ability only write one conclusion. While male student having low level of mathematics ability don’t write a conclusion of the problems. Keywords: Story problems, Polya, Ability, Gender
