Abstract: This study focuses on the flouting maxims which are found in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials Movie. This study aims to know the types of flouting maxim and also explain the implied meanings resulted by flouting maxim in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials Movie. The writer uses theoretical framework proposed by Cutting (2002) about flouting maxims and Grundy (2013) about implicature to explain implied meaning of utterances resulted from flouting maxims. This study uses qualitative method to analyze data that is proposed by Bogdan and Biklen (1982).The writer uses the interactive model to analyze the data. The Source of data is Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials Movie and the data are from all utterances contain flouting maxim and implied meanings produced by characters. The result shows that there are four types of flouting maxims here. The writer found 20 data of flouting maxims and also implied meaning of utterances in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials Movie. The flouting maxims in this study consist of flouting maxim of quality (4), flouting maxim of quantity (5), flouting maxim of relevance (7), and flouting maxim of manner (4). Then, there are implied meaning of utterances resulted by four flouting maxims; quality, quantity, relevance and also manner in this study. The implied meanings of utterances resulted by flouting maxim happens because of certain purposes such as keep the hidden thing, convince the hearer and evoke curiosity.
