English Study Program of Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences, University of Trunojoyo Madura. Advisor: Zakiyatul Mufidah, M.Hum. Halo by Alexandra Adornetto is a fantasy genre which contains a story about the hero’s adventure. This study aimed to discuss the hero’s stages and the character development of the main character; Bethany Church during the adventure by using Joseph Campbell’s Monomyth theory. The method of the study is arranged by using a qualitative research design. As the literary study, all of the content are in the form of words. The fundamental instrument is the writer herself. The data focus on the characters’ utterances and the author narration related to the hero’s adventure stages and character development in Alexandra Adornetto’s Halo. The writer collected the data by using close reading technique analyzing the data based on the Miles and Huberman’s steps. The result of this study are Monomyth theory by Joseph Campbell appropriate to be used in Alexandra Adornetto’s Halo. The novel consists of the three stages of the hero’s adventure; Departure, initiation, return. And the main characters development happens at the beginning her adventure; she is selfish. In the middle; she becomes mature person. In the end; her physical and spiritual becomes more powerful. Key Words: Monomyth, Departure, Initiation, Return, Development.
