    ABSTRACT Nafi’ah, Faiqotun. 2018. A Study of Compound in the Novel I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella. Thesis, English Study Program, Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences. Trunojoyo University. Advisor: Dr. Masduki, M.Pd The aims of the study are to investigate the kinds of compound and components of compound in novel I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella. This study uses Fabb (2001) and Katamba (1994) theories. This study used descriptive qualitative design. The source of data was novel I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella in 2012. Novel I’ve Got Your Number was written by Sophie Kinsella was a New York Times Best Seller. The data were the words of compound in novel I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella. The main instrument was the writer herself which are functioned to collect, classify, and analyze the data. The method data collection was content analysis. In the findings, the writer finds 92 data that can be categorized based on the kinds and components of compound. The writer finds three kinds of compound, endocentric compound (50), exocentric compound (14), and co-ordinate or appositional compound (28). The writer also finds three components of compound, compound noun (75), compound adjective (15), and compound verb (2). Keywords: Word Formation Process, Compound, I’ve Got Your Number,and Novel.
