The aims of this study are to discuss the types and functions of interruptions uttered by the characters in Girls Trip movie. The writer uses theories proposed by Ferguson (1977) and Kennedy and Camden (1983) to analyze the data. This study uses qualitative research. The source of data of this study is Girls Trip movie. The data of this study are the utterances produced by the characters in the movie. The writer is the key instrument to analyze the data. This study uses content analysis method to collect the data. Besides, the method to analyze the data, this study uses interactive model proposed by Miles and Huberman (1994). Two findings are explained in this study. Firstly, the four types of interruptions are found in this study. They are simple, overlap, butting-in, and silent interruption. Among these types, overlap is the common type that occurs to give clarification. Then, the most rare type is silent interruption that occurs only once in the movie. Secondly, not all of the functions of interruptions are found in this study. There are three main categories of function of interruptions, viz. confirmation, rejection, and disconfirmation. Confirmation represented by clarification and agreement. Interrupter more often uses interruption to give clarification represents confirmation since it happened 14 times. However, rejection represented by disagreement occurs 7 times. Meanwhile, disconfirmation represented by tangentialization and subject change.
