ABSTRACT The objectives of this study is to discover the type and function of euphemism found in the movie entitled the Grand Budapest Hotel. Euphemistic language found within the movie was influenced by the life of high-class man who needs to be nicely speak in front of other people. The source of data in this study is the script of the Grand Budapest Hotel movie. This study was conducted by descriptive qualitative research design proposed by Denzin and Lincoln (2005). The research instrument in this study was the writer himself. The data were collected by using content analysis method proposed by Krippendroff (2012). Interactive data analysis method was used in data analysis proposed by Miles and Huberman (1994). The writer obtains 20 data which can be classified as types of Euphemism. They are categorized as follows; abstraction type with (5 data), indirection type with (10 data), litotes type with (4 data), and modification type with (1 data). The writer also obtains 20 data of the euphemism functions that found in The Grand Budapest Hotel movie. The 17 data are categorized to avoid taboo words with 3 data, to reveal frightening things with 5 data, and to show respect and to avoid uncomfortable with 12 data.
