    Abstraksi

    This study focuses on the types of illocutionary force found in sen asren mantra in Matanair district Sumenep and the functions of illocutionary force found in sen asren mantra in Matanair district Sumenep. This study uses the theory proposed by Austin (1962) to analyze the types of illocutionary force found in sen asren mantra in Matanair district Sumenep and Searle (1969) to analyze the functions of illocutionary force found in sen asren mantra in Matanair district Sumenep. This study uses descriptive qualitative design. The sources of data are sen asren mantra in Matanair district Sumenep. The data are the utterances found in sen asren mantra in Matanair district Sumenep. The main instrument in recording, transcribing, classifying, and analyzing the data is the writer herself. The method to collect the data was observation method. There were 27 data analyzed in this study. Of the 27 data, 9 data were classified as verdictive, 12 data classified as exercitive, 5 data classified as commisive, 1 data classified as behabitives and there was no data classified as expositive. With regard to the functions of illocutionary force, the writer found 17 data belonging to requesting, 3 data belonging to wishing, 2 data belonging to warning and 5 data belonging to threatening.
