Abstract: The purpose of this study is to find out the use of taboo words in Neighbors film. This study also expected to give an understanding about taboo words especially about the kinds of taboo words and also the reason to produce taboo word. This study used descriptive qualitative research. The data were a word or phrase which belongs to taboo terms. The data were taken from the dialogues of the characters in Neighbors film. The writer used content analysis in this study. The data collected after the writer watched the film several times then classified the data based on the theory of kinds of taboo word and also the reason to produce it. The result of this study shows 9 data belong to taboo word derived from bodily organs, 33 data belong to taboo word derived from bodily effluvia, 65 data belong to taboo word derived from sexual behavior, 2 data belong to dysphemistic taboo word, and 7 data belong to Imprecations and taboo word invoking mental sub normality or derangement. Moreover, this study also finds that there are several reasons why the character of the movie produced taboo word. There are 10 data belong to create attention, 23 data belong to discredit, 7 data belong to identification, 14 data belong to provoke, 43 data belong to provide catharsis, and 19 data belong to insult.
