Abstract This study focuses on subtypes and dimensions of metaphorical expressions uttered by farmers in Galis-Pamekasan. It aims to explain the subtypes of metaphorical expressions and dimensions which contribute to the existences of metaphorical expressions. To analyse the data, this study uses two theories. Those are the theory of metaphorical types proposed by Hurford, Heasley and Smith (2007) and the theory of three dimensionality of social praxis proposed by Bang and Door (cited in Lindo & Bundsgaard, 2000). Moreover, this study is conducted by applying a qualitative research design since the data are in the form of words. The data of this study are expressions which contain metaphorical phrases and sentences uttered by those farmer. The data are collected by using observation method. In analyzing the data, the writer uses interactive data analysis. In the finding, the writer found 19 data. The writer found one subtype and one particular subtype of metaphorical expressions proposed by Hurford, Heasley and Smith (2007). 2 metaphorical sentences are identified as structural metaphor. 14 metaphorical sentences and 3 metaphorical phrases are identified as personification-type-metaphor. There are no orientational and ontological metaphor used in the expressions. The writer also elaborates the dimensions which contribute to the existence of the metaphorical expressions proposed by Bang and Door (cited in Lindo & Bundsgaard, 2000:10-11). From 19 of metaphorical phrases and sentences, there are 3 of them which have double dimensions. Therefore, the dimensions which contribute the metaphorical expressions become 22 data. The data are 13 metaphorical sentences and 3 metaphorical phrases classifying as ideological dimensions. 4 metaphorical sentences are identified as biological dimension. 2 metaphorical sentences are identified as sociological dimension.
