A Study of Interpersonal Meaning in Harry Mark Petrakis's The Wooing of Ariadne Short StoryPenulis : Khusnul WidayatiDosen Pembimbing I : Misnadin, S.S., M.A., Ph.DDosen Pembimbing II :Abstraksi
This study aims to explain the mood systems, mood structure and modality found in The Wooing of Ariadne short story. This study focuses on the interpersonal meaning in The Wooing of Ariadne short story. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative research design. The research instrument of this study was the writer herself. The source of data was The Wooing of Ariadne short story by Harry Mark Petrakis. The data were collected by using content analysis method. After collecting the data, the data were analyzed by using interactive data analysis. There are 40 data found in this study. They belong to the three types of mood systems; those are declarative (22 data), interrogative (7 data), and imperative (11 data). The mood structure found in the short story contains subject (33 data) and finite (33 data). In terms of the value of modality, the writer found 5 data belonging to high modality, 7 data belonging to median modality, and 5 data belonging to low modality.
