    Azhari, Fauziah Al. 13.05.111.00024. Nadine’s Miserable Memory in Chevy Stevens’ Always Watching. Thesis. English Study Program of Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences. University of Trunojoyo Madura. Advisor: Mrs. Zakiyatul Mufidah M.hum The title of this research is Nadine’s Miserable Memory in Chevy Stevens’ Always Watching. The fundamental problem of this research is sexual abuse that has commonly happened in this era. The victims are not only teenager but also under age children, this is called as pedophile. The case caused by sexual offender can give bad effect for victim’s life. This tragic story about pedophile is told greatly in Chevy Stevens’ Always Watching. This novel tells about Nadine, a woman who has bad childhood experience which impacts her whole life. She forgets some of her childhood memory. It happens because repression. Rehearsal process is needed to access her childhood memory. The purpose of this study is to determine shifting memory from short term memory to long term memory in Nadine’s miserable memory. This study uses qualitative research approach because the data are the form of words. The writer is the key instrument of this research because she is the only one who conducts all of the process of this study. The data of this study are the characters’ utterances and the author’s narration in novel Always Watching. the technique of collecting data is close reading. Close reading is read, re-read and collect the data. The steps of analyzing data are data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. This research finds repetition process (rehearsal) which helps Nadine to reveal forgoten memory. Rehearsal process is important for the process of shifting from short term memory to long term memory memory since memory that has been revealed is automatically stored in long term memory.
