This study analyzes,the trauma of the main character. Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L James by using psychoanalytic theory from Sigmund Freud. The study focuses on the causes and effects of trauma. This study is included into qualitative research because the data are in the form of words. The data are characters’ utterances and author’s narrations in the novel. The technique of collecting data of this study uses Miles and Huberman’s desaign namely data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion. The result of the study shows that Christian Grey suffers trauma from his bad experience in his childhood. There are two causes of Christian’s trauma those are external and violation. Furthermore, there are two effects of Christian’s trauma are Masochism and Sexual Sadism. Keywords :Trauma, Masochism, Sexual Sadism.
