Abstract: This study discusses the affection of a woman in Eric Emmanuel Schmitt’s Oscar and the Lady in Pink. The purposes of this study are to describe the affection of Mamie Rose by using Eric Fromm theory (1956) also the effect of the affection toward Oscar. This study uses qualitative research because this study explains the result of analysis in the form of words. Based on the analysis, it is found that: 1) in Eric Emmanuel Schmitt’s Oscar and the Lady in Pink motherly love is found in two ways of giving affection; care giving and education giving. Moreover, care giving is divided into two ways; care and responsibility. While, education giving is divided into two ways; problem solving and people handling. All of them are founded from Mamie Rose also Oscar’s utterances. 2) The effect of the love can be seen from the changes of Oscar’s mindset and attitude. The mindset changing is the changing from Oscar has no belief until Oscar has a belief. The attitude changing is the changing from bad Oscar until good Oscar.
