This study is concerned with marriage contract. Related to the marriage contract, the research problem is formulated in this study; how Tolvard Helmer’s domination portrayed in the drama. To accomplish the whole study, Marriage contract is used as the underlying theory. To support the analysis, patriarchy is used as a concept of marriage contract. To elaborate the specific theory, patriarchal family by Sylvia Walby is used. Moreover, to know the patriarchy system those occur in the drama used indentifying the characters’ utterances and author’s narrations. Hence, to conduct this study, the qualitative research is used to observe the data which is form of word from the drama by Hendrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that: in Hendrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House Tolvard Helmer dominate his wife in family. Moreover, marriage contract becomes an institution of women oppression.
