    Abstraction

    The novel entitled Henna House by Nomi Eve tells about social politics, domination, cultural, and tradition issue in Yemen. Thus this study discusses the politics issue that is portrayed in the novel. By using Louis Althusser’s hegemony concept (power, Repressive State Apparatus, and Ideology State Apparatus), the writer can find the domination done by Moslem government to Yemenete Jews. The writer also finds the effect that happen in Adela’s life as the main character who suffered from the domination. The utterances of Adela and other characters in Henna House are the data of this study. Then qualitative research is chosen as the technique of analyzing data. The writer finds that Repressive State Apparatus is applied by Moslem government by creating many kinds of decrees, and it produces several ideologies and labour power, such as: Jews are filthy, Jews are low, Islam is true religion, and labour power includes Shoe Maker and Jambia Maker. The writer also finds the Ideology State Apparatus that is portrayed through ISA of Family in Adela’s family. The ISA contains a thinking about a daughter who does not need to get education in school. This ISA of Family produces some repressive conditions for the Jew, such as: the Jews become uneducated, marginal, poor, and sickly.
