    Abstraction

    This study aims to explain the types of blocked word found in Elizabeth Gilbert’s Novel Entitled Eat, Pray, Love. It also aims to explain blocked word requirements applied in Eat, Pray, Love Novel written by Elizabeth Gilbert. In addition, to analyze the data, this study uses the theory proposed by Plag (2002) to analyze the types and Rainer (1988) to analyse the requirement of words to be blocked words. Moreover, this study is conducted by applying qualitative research design since the data are in the form of words. The data of this study are the words which contains blocked words in the novel entitled Eat, Pray, Love written by Elizabeth Gilbert. The data were collected by using content analysis method and analysed by using extralingual correlation method. In the finding, the writer found 22 data. The writer found four of synonymy type-blocked words, sixteen of synonymy token-blocked words, and two of sporadic blocked words as the writer’s new findings. The writer also found in the data the requirements of words to be blocked words. They are productivity, synonymy, and frequency. Keywords: Blocked word, Eat, Pray, Love novel
