Abstract: This study focuses on the types of illocutionary force expressed by British demonstrators in Youtube. It also aims to explain the functions of illcutionary force expressed by British demonstrators in Youtube. In addition, to analyze the data, this study uses the theory proposed by Austin (1962) to analyze the types and Searle (1969) to analyze the functions. Moreover, this study is conducted by applying a qualitative research design since the data are in the form of words. The data of this study are the orator’s speech utterences by British demonstrators in Youtube which contain illocutionary force. The data are collected by using non participant observations method and analyzed by using correlational method. In the finding, the writer found 45 data. The writer found that the five illocutionary force types proposed by Austin (1962) existed in the data. 8 data which are included into verdictives, 11 data which are included into excertive, 17 data which are included into commissives, 5 data which are included into behabitives, and 4 data which are included into expositives, The writer also found in the data the functions of illocutionary force. The frequent function of illocutionary force expressed by Britih demonstrators is complaining which is shown by 22 data. It is followed by requesting which is proved by 10 data. The third position goes to recommending shown by 8 data. The last position goes to thanking which is shown by 5 data. Keywords: Illocutionary force, British demonstrators.
