English Study Program of Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences, University of Trunojoyo, Madura. Advisor: Prof. Dr. Suryo Tri Saksono The focus of this study is to reveal the meanings in the title of Chris Columbus and Ned Vizzini’s House of Secrets. The title in the literary work is the greatest symbol in the work itself. There are some evidences in the novel which will facilitate the analysis in this study. This study is also expected to give knowledge about semiotics study, especially on symbolism proposed by Pierce. In addition, the novel House of Secrets is chosen as the source of data on the basis of its language while the data in this study is utterances describing novel House of Secrets. Qualitative design is the best research design used by the writer in analyzing this study since the data are in the form of words. The data of this study collected by reading and understanding the novel well and the data analysis of this study will start from data reduction, data display, and conclusion. While the key instrument is the writer herself. The results, shows there are twelve meanings which is appropriate to the title. After analyzing this study it concluded that the title in the literary work is the unique one and have many interesting meaning.
