    Abstraksi

    This study is focused on registers used by cow seller at tanah merah traditional cow market. This study aims to explain the types of register and the functions of Registers Used By cow seller at Tanah Merah Traditional Cow market. This writer uses qualitative design since the data are in the form of words. The data of this study were taken from any utterances produced By cow sellers at Tanah Merah Traditional Cow market. The data were collected by using observation method. In analyzing data, the writer used interactive data analysis proposed by Miles and Huberman (Hardiansyah: 2011). The results show that there are 19 data found in this study. They are classified into 5 types of registers. They are informal register (19 data), formal register (0 data), over formal register (0 data), motherese register (0 data) and reporting register (0 data). There are 6 functions of registers, those are instrumental (7 data), interaction (0 data), personal (4 data), heuristics (3 data), imagination (I data) and information (4 data).
