    This purpose of this study is Critical Discourse at the utterances of two American presidential candidates. The source of data of this study is The First American Presidential Debate 2016. This study aims to describe the kinds of power and ideology used by both candidates of the American presidential debate. This study was conducted using descriptive qualitative research design. The research instrument in this study is the writer herself. The data was collected by using content analysis method. Interactive data analysis method was used in analyzing the data. The writer finds out the kind of power and ideology used in the presidential debate by both candidates. The writer found 21data. The 21 data are classified into power 3 data that are categorized power as persuasion, and 18 data categorized as ideology.
