This study is focused on the utterances of sarcasm found in Islamic Boarding School Nurul Cholil Demangan Barat Bangkalan. The source of data are the teachers and students of Islamic Boarding School in Nurul Cholil Demangan Barat Bangkalan. This study aims to explain the types of sarcasm found in Islamic Boarding School Nurul Cholil Demangan Barat and the factors causing the occurrence of sarcasm in Islamic Boarding School Nurul Cholil Demangan Barat in Bangkalan District. This study is conducted by using descriptive qualitative research design. The research instrument in this study is the writer himself. The data is collected by using observation method and interview method. Interactive data analysis method is used in data analysis. There are 25 data which are found in this study. There are 4 types of sarcasm (1) Propositional sarcasm, (7 data), (2) Lexical sarcasm, (6 data), (3) Like prefix sarcasm (8 data), and (4) Illocutionary sarcasm there are (4 data) From 25 data, there are 5 factors that contribute the existance of sarcasm (1) Exaggeration (8 data), (2) Nature of the speaker (0 data), (3) Criticsm in front of an audience (4 data), (4) Relationship of speaker to victim there are (0 data) and (5) Severity of the criticsm (13 data).
