Tris’s attitude in Veronica Roth’s DivergentPenulis : Oky GresyaningrumDosen Pembimbing I : Rif'ah Inayati, S.S., M.ADosen Pembimbing II :Abstraksi
This study is aimed to discuss main character’s attitude in Veronica Roth’s Divergent. The analysis of this novel uses the theory of Psychological types focuses on the attitude. It also aims to explain the way Tris’s behave in society according to her attitude. This study was conducted by applying a qualitative research design since the data are in the form of words. The source of data of this study is a novel entitled Divergent. The data are the utterances of the characters and author’s narration which related to the Psychological types. In analyzing the data, the writer used qualitative data analysis. Since this study concerns on the attitude of the main character, this study uses a theory which is proposed by Carl G. Jung to analyze the data. From the discussion, Tris’s attitude based on the six classifications of attitude, shows that Tris can be classified into introversion attitude. Those six classifications of attitude are, Tris’s attitude through the way she thinks, Tris’s attitude through the way she reflects, Tris’s attitude through the way she socializes, Tris’s attitude through the way she acts, Tris’s attitude through the way she trusts others, and Tris’s attitude through the way she tacts. Furthermore, Tris behaves inwardly, unsociable, often has its own opinion, and inaccessible toward her society. Keywords: The Psychological Types, Attitude, Introvert, Extravert.
