This study focuses on analyzing presupposition in a novelette. The author chose a novelette entitled The Legend of Lady Long Neck by James Lee. This study aims to find out the types of presupposition and the projection problem for presupposition. This research uses descriptive-qualitative research design. It is used because this study only analyses and describes what is found in the source of data related to the research problem. The researcher found the first problem to explain the meaning of presupposition in each sentence that uttered by a speaker, the second problem to explain the projection problems for presupposition in a novelette. The researcher found 35 data that contained 5 of 6 types of presupposition in The Legend of Lady Long Neck by James Lee, those are 24 existential presupposition, 1 factive presupposition, 1 lexical presupposition, 6 structural presupposition, 3 counterfactual presupposition. The researcher also found 5 of 35 data that contain projection problem for presupposition.
