English Study Program of Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences, University of Trunojoyo Madura. Advisor: Dr. Masduki, M.Pd. This study focuses on illocutionary act that are found in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trial Movie. This study aims to explain the types of illocutionary act which are taken from Maze Runner: The Scorch Trial movie. It also aims to explain the functions of illocutionary act. Illocutionary act becomes the main central to linguistics elements of communication. In addition to analysis the data, this study uses two theories. Those are Searle (1969) and Leech (1983). Moreover, this study is conducted by applying a qualitative research design since the data are in the form of words. The data of this study are the utterances of main character contains illocutionary act found in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trial movie. The data are collected by using content analysis method. In analyzing the data, the writer uses interactive data analysis. The writer found a number of illocutionary types and the functions of illocutionary act. In terms of types, there were directive (35 data), representative (15 data), commissive (8 data), expressive (7 data), declaration has no data. Meanwhile, the functions of illocutionary act indicate competitive (30 data), convivial (11 data), collaborative (21 data), and conflictive (3 data).
