This study is aimed to identify the specialty of women writing in the novel How to Be an American Housewife by Margaret Dilloway as female writer. The analysis of this study to seek the difference way of female writer produce their work related to the three currents model of gynocriticsim. Moreover, this study also analyzes women portrayal by Margaret Dilloway through main character, Shoko and Suiko. The method of this study uses descriptive qualitative which focused on the data collected in the form of words, phrases, and sentences. The data is a novel entitled How to Be an American Housewife by Margaret Dilloway to find the specialty of female writer toward women’s work. The results is the usage language by Margaret Dilloway as female writer, the author psychological condition toward her writing and women’s culture existed in the story of How to Be an American Housewife. Moreover this study analyzes women characters that are portrayed by Margaret Dilloway as independent and strong women. Keywords: Feminist, Gynocriticism, Women Portrayal, Women Writing
