Adivsor : Dr. Masduki. M.Pd. This study focuses on type of thematic role that are found in A Sheltered Woman short story. This study aims to explain the types of thematic role which are taken from short story. It also aims to explain the types of verb that follow thematic role. In addition to analyze the data, this study uses theory thematic role that is proposed by Saeed (2009). Moreover, this study is conducted by using a qualitative research because the data are in the form of words. The data of this study are all the words which are taken from the narration of Sheltered Woman short story. The method of collecting data in this study is conducted by using content analysis and to analyze the data, the writer uses interactive data analysis. In the findings, the writer finds 698 data. The writer finds nine types of thematic role, 277 data which are included into agent and 191 data are included into patient, 96 data are included into experiencer,13 data are included into source, 53 data are included into goal, 52 data are included into location 5 data are included into theme 5 data are included into instrument, and 6 data are included into beneficiary. The writer also finds two types of verb. Those are dynamic verb (322) data, and stative verb (107) data.
