English Study Program Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences University of Trunojoyo Madura Abstract: This research is focused on analyzing the explicature words that are found in Jakarta Post newspaper using Sperber and Wilson’s theory. This study aims to explain the types of explicature words which are taken from the Jakarta Post newspaper. It also aims to explain the inference of the most dominant appereance of explicature in the Jakarta post. In addition to analyze the data, this study uses the types of explicature theory proposed by Sperber and Wilson. Moreover, this study is conducted by using qualitative research because the data are in the form of words. The data of this study are headlines containing explicature which are taken from Jakarta post newspaper October-November editions. The method of collecting data in this study is observation method through note taking technique. The method to analyzed the data are interactive model analysis.The writer finds 38 data. The writer finds two types of explicature, 20 data are included into higher level explicature and 18 data are included into strength explicature.
